Transitioning from Success to Significance

Please join speakers Chris Ekrem and David Weil as they give a presentation and address questions for any ACHEMT member who is interested in learning how to become a successful healthcare professional and possessing the ability to transition from success to significance within any organization. This event is a spin-off from the HEN informational session; however, it is geared towards both early careerists and those more seasoned within their profession who seeks advancement.

David Weil, JD, MBA

Chris Ekrem, MBA, FACHE - Vice President, Business Development and Operations, Wiederhold & Associates

David Weil is an enthusiastic and energetic health lawyer, business lawyer and healthcare executive leader.  He is passionate about all that he does serving his clients, colleagues, constituents and communities.  

Currently in career transition mode and serving on a several corporate boards, David proudly served as Vice President, Legal Services, Quorum Health Corporation (QHC), Quorum Health Resources (QHR) and Quorum Purchasing Advantage (QPA), in Brentwood, TN.  Prior to the spinning out of these companies, he served Community Health Systems as Vice President & Associate General Counsel of Divisions 2, 1 and then 4 and then Vice President, Legal Services, assigned to QHR and QPA and then also QHC.  David started his career as a health lawyer in private practice at Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs in Akron, Ohio. He earned his J.D. and M.B.A. in Management from The University of Akron. 

David actively volunteers for the American College of Healthcare Executives of Middle Tennessee.  He serves as Laws and Regulations Instructor for the Board of Governors Examination, Programs Author, frequently publishing articles in the ACHE of Middle Tennessee Newsletter and Nashville Medical News and as a member of the Membership Committee of the Board of Directors of ACHE of Middle Tennessee. He and his wife, Barb, enjoy their 18-year-old daughter, Roma, and 16-year-old son, Jackson.

Chris Ekrem, MBA, FACHE, serves as Vice President of Business Development and Operations for Wiederhold & Associates. Chris brings over two decades of hospital administration experience in healthcare operations, management, and financial leadership. He led highly successful business development projects during his tenure in operations and administrative leadership roles at community hospitals, academic medical centers and Critical Access Hospitals in Texas and Kansas. 

Chris began his career as a financial analyst at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida, and expanded his skill set through project manager and decision-support positions before advancing to the C-suite in roles as a Chief Operating Officer (Kansas) and a Chief Executive Officer (Texas). He was previously Vice President at Tyler and Company; a retained healthcare executive search firm in Atlanta, Georgia.

Chris is very passionate about helping people in transition, delivering excellent customer service, and mentoring healthcare executives throughout their journey. In his free time, Chris enjoys teaching high school students about personal finance for Junior Achievement and mentoring early careerists through ACHE in Tennessee.  Chris is married to Lindsey, his best friend, a busy mother of two, and a highly skilled nurse.  He also tries to keep up with his enthusiastic four-year-old son, Grayson and seven-year-old daughter, Brianna.
